Michelle's Half Marathon

Our daughter Erin was born at Doncaster Royal Infirmary and was treated in the neonatal unit for her first 6 days. The care she received was nothing short of amazing. It was a stressful time, but looking back on it we won't remember that; we'll remember how wonderfully nurturing, patient and generous every member of staff was to us. Our stay there was thankfully short, but many families rely on this care for weeks or months. We want to give something back. 

If you know me at all you'll know I'm not a "natural runner", but in March 2027 I'll be taking part in a half-marathon (eeeek) to raise money for the Mini Marvels Appeal for the neonatal unit at DRI. I started my preparation with the Couch to 5k program and initially found it hard to run for even 60 seconds at a time, but I'm determined to give the final run a bloody good shot. Every donation will help keep me motivated, and will make a difference to families with babies born premature or poorly.

Past milestones: 
2nd April 2026- Erin was born ♡
8th April 2026 - Erin discharged from the neonatal unit at Doncaster Royal Infirmary 
13th May 2026 - I started the Couch to 5k program 
21st June 2026 - Ran my first 5k
30th June 2026 - Ran my first sub-30 5k
5th July 2026 - Completed the Couch to 5k program 

Future milestones:
11th July 2026 - First Parkrun event
31st October 2026 - 10k event @ Doncaster Airport runway (Run A Way)
29th November 2026 - 10k event @ Doncaster racecourse (Curry's Doncaster City 10k)
14th March 2027 - HALF MARATHON @ SHERWOOD PINES (Nice Work Sherwood Pines half marathon)
