London Marathon

I'm fundraising for DBTH Charity

I’m incredibly proud to have been chosen to represent Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in the 2026 London Marathon, running in support of our fantastic charity.

Let’s be honest — we’ve all needed the NHS at some point, whether it’s for a routine check up or something more serious. For me, this run is very personal. All four of my grandparents, who are sadly no longer with us, received care from the Trust — from Cancer treatment at the Chatsfield Suite to everyday appointments. The compassion they were shown has stayed with me, and now I have the opportunity to give something back.

I’ve also been fortunate enough to work at the Trust for nearly 12 years, so I see first hand the dedication, energy, and heart that our staff bring to their roles every day (yes — you’re even supporting me when you donate!).

By supporting my marathon run, you’ll be helping to fund real, meaningful improvements across Doncaster Royal Infirmary, Bassetlaw Hospital, and Montagu Hospital — from enhancing patient care to supporting staff wellbeing. Projects like the Serenity Suite, which offers vital space for families experiencing maternity bereavement, are just one example of the difference the charity makes.

You can find out more about the incredible projects the DBTH Charity has recently supported by visiting the DBTH charity page.

If you’re able to donate, no matter the amount, it would mean a great deal! Every contribution helps to support the work that makes a real difference to patients and staff alike.

DBTH Charity Football Game! Non-Clinical Vs Clinical

Sunday 21st Sep
Match Report: Non-Clinical Team vs Clinical Team ⚽ Final Score: Non-Clinical Team 3–3 Clinical Team (Non-Clinical team win on penalties) The game began evenly, with both sides cancelling each other out in the opening exchanges. It was quickly agreed that more breaks were needed due to everyone being severely unfit, so the first half quickly turned into a first quarter. The first quarter ended 0–0, with both teams already looking out of breath. The second quarter remained very tight, with both teams battling hard but struggling to find a way through. Eventually, the Non-Clinical team struck with a neat 1–2 between Kimberley Brown and Jordan Hunt: Kimberley passed to Jordan, who quickly returned it, allowing Kimberley Brown to finish calmly and make it 1–0. Around this point, the Non-Clinical team also brought on a makeshift substitute, Ronnie, Kim’s friend’s young son, who came on in the middle of the game to help out. The third quarter saw the Clinical team’s quality and extra lung capacity come through. Owen Milligan produced two tidy finishes in succession, both assisted by Callum Saunders, turning the game on its head to 2–1 in favour of the Clinical team. The fourth quarter was where the drama unfolded. The Non-Clinical team clawed back to make it 2–2 with a little breathing room to spare. Patrick Storey fed Samuel Kynman, who scored to level the match. However, the Clinical team struck almost instantly afterwards to take a 2–3 lead, with George Head providing the assist for Callum Saunders’ goal. Then came the drama: in the last minutes, a dubious handball was spotted, with shouts of “Get the rule book out, ref!” echoing around the pitch. The Non-Clinical team were awarded a penalty. Kieran Benson stepped up, stayed cool, and buried it to bring the score to 3–3, forcing a shootout. With the Clinical team piling on very late pressure, the Non-Clinical team held on to take the match to penalties. Confident conversions, one thumped against the post, and a few best forgotten later, the Non-Clinical team emerged victorious. Player of the Match: • Non-Clinical Team: Ben Wilkinson — marshalled the defence like a prime Tony Adams, kept his team in the game, and scored his penalty. Honourable mention: Kimberley Brown (goal, assist, and excellent link play). • Clinical Team: Callum Saunders — two assists and a goal. Honourable mentions: Owen Milligan (two well-taken goals), George Head (assist for the 3–2 goal). Overall Player of the Match: Ben Wilkinson (Non-Clinical Team) Team Lists: • Non-Clinical Team: Kieran Benson ©, Kim Brown, Bladen Crooks, Samuel Kynman, Ben Wilkinson, Jordan Hunt, Patrick Storey, Ronnie (substitute, Kim’s friend’s son) • Clinical Team: Peter Prentice ©, Callum Saunders, Owen Milligan, Sam Merritt, Steven Willey, George Head, Dia Sagar Big thanks to all the players — whose efforts on the pitch have helped raise £160 to contribute to Kieran’s London Marathon fundraising efforts.

Fantasy Football

Thursday 21st Aug

I have set up a Fantasy Football league with a little twist of a £10 buy-in, where £5 goes into the prize pot for the winner, and £5 goes straight to DBTH Charity.

Thanks to the 18 people who have joined, we’ve raised £90 for the charity 🙌

The first week hasn’t gone particularly to plan… just like my training. But as we know, it’s a marathon not a sprint. 🏃‍♂️⚽

Albemarle Homes – Still Supporting Me, Five Years On!

Saturday 14th Jun

I’m buzzing to share that I’ve received an early donation towards my London Marathon fundraising goal, and it’s come from Albemarle Homes, a local housebuilder who’ve once again shown just how much they value their community.

When I reached out about supporting my marathon challenge for Doncaster & Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals Charity, they didn’t hesitate. They already support the Trust in other ways, so this donation feels extra generous, and it’s helped lay the foundations (pun definitely intended!) for my fundraising journey.

I actually bought my home from Albemarle five years ago. They were great throughout the process. Supportive then, and still supporting now. Just in a completely different way.

Massive thanks again to the team for helping get things off the ground.
