My story

I am very thankful for everyone at Doncaster Hospital who supported me through the period following the birth of my third child, Lillie. She was born in March 2024. Following a planned home birth I was rushed to hospital with a severe concealed haemorrhage and in severe pain. Once there I was taken to theatre. This in itself was very traumatic for someone who hadn't really spent much time in hospitals before, let alone being an unexpected emergency, in a life threatening condition. Thankfully the staff were able to stop the bleeding, although losing 2.7 litres of blood and requiring 2 blood transfusions really shook me up. I am incredibly grateful for all the staff that day. The doctors, nurses and midwives who saved my life, including the lovely nurse who held my hand through it all, and the ambulance staff. 
My experience made me want to give something back. DBTH Charity do so much good work. They fund various projects such as maternity bereavement services, small things like teddy bears for children having their first hospital stay, care packages for patients who arrive at hospital with none of their belongings, but also some big investments such as purchasing cutting-edge technology to detect deadly infections like meningitis and the flu. These are just a few examples of the amazing work they do.

Abseil Postponed :'(

Thursday 4th Sep
I have just been informed that the abseil is going to be postponed due to not having enough people to run the event. The Charity are arranging a new date so I will update my page once we have a new date. Very sad news but will hopefully have a new date soon!

What have I actually signed up for!?

This is a question I have asked myself many times since signing up to take on this challenge back in March, however I thought I should give everyone an overview of what I am actually taking on.
Overlooking Doncaster Royal Infirmary will be a free standing crane with a 160ft drop, from which I will be abseiling down from.
I have never abseiled before or done anything remotely similar. The closest I have gone is rock climbing 10 metres from the ground in secondary school, so to say I'm nervous would be an enormous understatement. But, I am determined to complete this challenge so that I can raise money for a very worthy cause. Any support will mean the world and honestly, no donation is too small. Every penny donated means the world to me and will make such a difference.
