Our Virtual Stars
Welcome to Our Shining Stars 2025. Here you can dedicate a virtual star to remember and celebrate the life of a loved one, or sponsor one of our beautiful star lights for your local hospital.
Since 2020, Our Shining Stars has lit up our hospitals each Christmas, raising over £80,000 to fund projects that support patients, families and staff. For the first time, we’re excited to present our new Our Shining Stars dedication page, enabling more people to help your local hospitals shine.
Every star holds a story, celebrating the life of someone we love, saying thank you to a person or ward for the great care they gave, or simply saying thank you to your local NHS.

How to Dedicate a Virtual Star
1. Decide on how much you would like to donate
2. Dedicate your star to someone special
3. Spread the word with friends and family
Make your Dedication
To dedicate a virtual shining star, use our simple form below.
On this form you can choose how much you'd like to donate, share messages and photos, or simply your loved one’s name which will then be proudly shown as part of our starry sky above. You can share your dedication with friends and family and return as often as you'd like for a moment of reflection, to celebrate on special days, or just to feel close to someone who has passed away.
Your star will help us to support children like Mason
Mason was a sweet and brave boy who faced unimaginable challenges. Diagnosed with hypoplastic left heart syndrome as a baby, he waited for a heart transplant that never came.
As his health declined, his family brought him to Doncaster Royal Infirmary for end-of-life care. On the Children’s Ward, Mason became a beloved part of the team, bringing joy with his smile and laughter. Thanks to the dedicated Play Leaders, he enjoyed unforgettable experiences like pretend weddings and superhero visits.
Through our 2023 ‘Our Shining Stars’ appeal, we learnt of Mason’s wish to have a star of his own. His family and friends raised an incredible £980 for his very own star and we also give him a special star for his room. Mason sadly passed away on 27 December 2023, but we are dedicated to honour his memory by making much needed improvements to the Children’s Ward.
This Christmas, you can be a shining star for patients like Mason. By dedicating a star, your generosity will provide comfort and joy to families in need, helping us to make some of our projects possible much faster, such as upgrading parent facilities across the Children’s Ward and creating dedicated bereavement spaces across to name a few examples.
